Razer Huntsman Elite – The perfect combination for gaming and typing

ProsOpto-mechanical switch response10 simultaneous presses

ConsEspecially noisyModel without wrist rest

If something characterizes the Huntsman keyboard are its exclusive Razer switches that have a special feeling in the press. Opto-mechanical switches use devices with optical light sensors inside each key.

The final result of the Razer Huntsman Elite translates into almost instantaneous response times when writing and playing, in addition to indicating by the firm a greater durability that is estimated at twice the use of what comes to be a conventional keyboard.

What is evident is the noise it gives off around you, something that can be annoying if you use it in an office with colleagues. The keyboard can reach a logger up to 10 simultaneous keystrokes, ideal for intense games.

There are no dedicated macro keys, but there is a specific Hypershift function with which you can customize the keys with the buttons at the top. These features, along with per-key RGB lighting, can be customized with Razer Synapse.

The slightly raised keys and soft glow in its lighting give the Huntsman a premium look. You have three color options you choose from, either classic black, quartz pink, or mercury white.

Logitech G915 – Best for combining play and work

ProsLow profile keysGood backlight

ConsWheel without customization

The Logitech G915 is the first Series 9 keyboard the company launches after quite some time, and the wait seems to have been worth it. The G915 is an incredibly thin low-profile keyboard, at just 22mm thick, without compromising the experience of a mechanical keyboard.

The body is composed of a 5052 aluminum alloy top housing and a reinforced steel base to provide a robust, durable, strong and heavy keyboard solution.

Obviously, it wouldn’t be a gaming keyboard without the full customizable RGB Lightsync backlight offered by the keyboard through the company’s G Hub software.

It’s the first Logitech keyboard to feature low-profile CHOC GL pushbuttons. The low-profile keys make typing and playing with the keyboard a more comfortable experience compared to standard mechanical keyboards.

It also has three variants of pushbuttons from which you can choose: GL Clicky, GL Tactile and GL Linear. The Clicky variant provides the audible and tactile feedback most gamers want from a mechanical keyboard.

Along with the mechanical keys, press a soft-touch profile switch and media control buttons and a beautiful fluted metal volume wheel.

Our only complaint about the Logitech G915 is that the wheel function can’t currently be customized via G Hub, though we expect that to change in the future. However, there are five macro keys for you to customize!

The G915 is also wireless, with Logitech’s proprietary Lightspeed wireless technology providing response times of just 1ms, which translates to ultra-fast response times during those crucial moments in the game.

The keyboard also features standard Bluetooth support, allowing you to connect to a secondary device and switch between the two with the push of a button. Battery life doesn’t seem to be an issue for this keyboard.

The G915 lasts 30 hours with the RGB backlight enabled, which isn’t bad, but if you turn it off, it jumps to an incredible 1,100 hours. The battery is fully charged in just three hours, plus you can handle it while it’s charging.

If you want to save the wireless keyboard experience, you can save some money by opting for the Logitech G815 cabling model whose current price is € 209, saving you about € 50 on the purchase.

SteelSeries Apex Pro – Best for Setting Up Game Profiles

ProsMagnetic palm restCharging port

OmniPoint mechanical switches can be adjusted to any actuation point between 0.4 and 3.6 mm. In simple terms, that means you can record the pulse from the slightest push to a higher travel, modifying the response speed.

Obviously, it is possible to adjust different profiles or adjust the path per key, which means that you can set a comfortable level for typing and agaming keyboards nother for when you run games on your computer. Also custom game profiles per key.

It also has RGB lighting per key, a magnetic palm rest that adheres to the keyboard, and USB power pass to enable an additional charging or connection port.

The Apex Pro of SteelSeries has a mini OLED screen that we had already seen before in models of the brand, along with a metal roller with additional keypad to be able to change the profile or adjust the pressure or lighting on the fly.

It’s not cheap among the comments here, but the SteelSeries Apex Pro is robust and infinite of features that are worth the long-term investment either to use with your games, or to write a novel.

Fnatic Streak RGB – A fairly compact model for commuting

ProsComfortable to handleDifferent sizes

ConsFew function keysVery compact palm rest

With the Streak you will find some frankly interesting options starting with the use of Cherry MX type keys in brown, blue, red and silent red. If it turns out that you don’t need RGB lighting, you can save yourself some money by opting for the Rush model.

The Fnatic Rush keyboard that we mentioned has a red backlight and lacks some of the additional keys that the Streak model has, but for pressing purposes you will not notice any difference.

On the numeric keypad it has three additional buttons to silence the microphone quickly, the compatibility mode and the speaker mute. There is also a metal volume control.

The compatibility mode allows you to modify the type of backlight between a constant orange brightness or different dimming levels. It is also possible to disable the Windows key on the Streak RGB in order to avoid distractions and the start menu may appear when playing.

With respect to the palm rest lined with synthetic leather of the Streak RGB and padded material, it fulfills its function, allowing three different positions of distance from the keyboard for those who prefer it slightly removed.
