520.3.#.a: This paper offers a historical overview of the science dissemination activities carried out by the academic community of the Morelia campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico since its creation. Dr. José Sarukhán Kermez, then rector, inaugurated the campus on November 11, 1996 in order to favor the creation of research groups outside Ciudad Universitaria seeking to have an impact in the province. The campus has an area of 21 hectares in which four research centers, two academic units of research institutes and a recently created national school of higher studies cohabit. This text presents an account of the activities and dissemination projects that are developed on campus in order to give a greater presence of UNAM in the region. Throughout more than a decade of permanence in the State of Michoacán, the UNAM campus in Morelia has considered undertaking various actions and projects that seek to make a significant contribution to the growing context of outreach programs carried out in the State of Michoacán. The present work offers a historical view of the scientific public outreach activities that the academic community at UNAM, campus Morelia has offered since its creation. Back then, in November 11th 1996, Dr. José Sarukhán Kermez, rector of UNAM, inaugurated the campus with the aim of creating research groups outside University City able to impact positively in the area. The campus has 21 hectares, shared by four research centers, two research departments and a newborn college. In this brief manuscript we scrutinize the scientific outreach activities and projects developed by people at the campus. These have been performed with the aim of allowing a larger impact of UNAM in the region. After more than 10 years, UNAM, campus Morelia has proposed itself to start a series of actions and projects with substantial impact to the already growing programs that are developed in the State of Michoacán.
