The 16 most important cell phone manufacturers

Electronics giants, old and new corporations, multinational companies and many entrepreneurs, have ventured with medium or enormous success to the development of smart cell phones around the world. In this research article we present the main smartphone manufacturers, their history, some characteristics of their devices and the best evaluated and most sought after phones of each of these companies, at the beginning of the second half of 2013.

South Korean multinational leader in sales since smartphones 2012. Most of its smartphones run on the Android operating system, although it has tested Windows Phone 8 on devices such as the ATIV S. Here we have another corporation from South Korea, which began its transition in cell phones in 1996. It climbed top positions with the LG Optimus G model, number one in our annual ranking of the best smartphones of 2012, with whose device set the tone by providing it with 2GB of RAM. Finnish company that has made history in the telecommunications sector, being the largest manufacturer and former leader in sales. It established with other companies the Symbian OS operating platform, until it reached a strategic alliance with Microsoft (February 2011), to provide its smartphones with the Windows Phone operating system. American company that has, among other merits, that of having developed the first cell phone in the world: Motorola DynaTAC, with which the electronic engineer Martin Copper made the first call precisely with a cell phone (April 3, 1973). In recent years they have worked on improving the battery performance of their devices. On August 15, 2011, Google announced the purchase of Motorola Mobility. In the first quarter of 2013, ZTE managed to sell 7,883,300 units, an increase of 74% compared to the same quarter of 2012.
